The CIF Central Section released an update on Tuesday canceling fall Central Section playoffs and championship events for cross country, football, girls’ volleyball, and water polo.
The decision includes new “recommended start by dates” that would allow four weeks of competition. Schools will be allowed to schedule competition contingent on CDPH and local county health guidelines.
The end dates for the sports are:
-Cross Country- March 27
-Football- April 17
-Girls Volleyball- March 20
-Water Polo- March 20
Currently, Kern County is in the state’s purple tier. Once stay-at-home orders have been lifted, Cross Country, Golf, Tennis, Swim and Dive, and Track and Field will be cleared to begin January 25 at the earliest.
